Publishing update

I'm working on Book #6 another Roy Neely novel. About half way at 40,000 words and hope to finish by end of year. Book 5 THE KASHMIR DILEMMA published in April is doing fair. Couple of nice reviews on my web page booksbybeckhardt.com

real conservatives

George W. Bush was inaugurated with a 3% margin of victory. His goal was consolidation of Republican “compassionate conservatism”. Republicans have strayed far from the 1994 “Contract with America” conservative views. They represent a conservatism never seen in US politics. Gingrich’s Contract with America: goals were to reform Congress with fiscal responsibility and personal accountability. Bush and Congress have been focused on subordinating middle class interests to special and corrupt lobbyist interests. Tax cuts for the wealthy, concessions to oil interests; foreign policy go-it-alone approaches, failure to address the medical system mess deepened inequality in American life.


Media must bring our focus on electing politicians who can reclaim the political center. Politicians of both parties would do well to read Gingrich’s “Lessons Learned the Hard Way”. Focus on Chapters:Know the Difference between Right and Wrong and Do the Right Thing. Most Americans believe that it is possible (1) to have an energy policy based on conservation, alternative fuels and technologies to reduce dependence on middle east oil; (2) to reform our medical delivery system in a fiscally responsible way that insures health coverage for all citizens; (3) that the Social Security system can be protected and strengthened. Most of us believe that on a state and local level we can manage the inevitable population growth with common sense approaches to road and school needs.


Whether you are a Republican or Democrat it’s wakeup time for the majority of voters “in the middle” to focus on electing and demanding from politicians their commitment to fiscally sound solutions that are based on honesty, competence, and fairness for the majority. at national, state and local political levels.

The third Roy Neely novel is in work. Have finished 75000 words and starting a second revision. This story is going together much slower than the first two. Keep looking for the published work early summer 2009.

Goering's Gold

After the end of World War II many people wondered what happened to the enormous gold stores that the Nazi stole from the citizens of its occupied countries. There were reports that some of the gold stolen by Croation fascists reached the Vatican. The Vatican denied this, of course, but never allowed researchers to see its records. This piqued me to write a novel, GOERING'S GOLD, based on events of the time. Readers of historical based events, members of the armed forces, are the typical adult audience who will enjoy this book. The author's experience as a pilot in World War II added considerable interest and excitement in relating the story.

At the end of World War II, a Luftwaffe hero flies a final mission for Reich Marsjall Herman Goering. He delivers gold bars to the organizer of an escape route for war criminals from Germany called the 'rat line'. Roy Neely, retired FBI psychologist, ex Air Force Vietnam fighter bomber pilot, with a new career as a Flight Instructor, is faced with a real challenge: how fifty-two years later, to expose the financing of this activity. Neely enlists friends Eric Holloway from the CIA and Jacon Nervat from the Israeli Mossad to help with the investigation. After many twists and turns this leads to a treasure hunt for Goering's gold. The author keeps the reader in suspense until the last chapter with a surprise ending.
